The 2022 Doctoral Workshop of the Research Group on Development Economics of the German Economic Association will be organized by Professor Tilman Brück (IGZ, HU Berlin & ISDC). The workshop will be held in-person on 22 and 23 September 2022 in Berlin, Germany. If circumstances require, event might be held in a hybrid or online-only mode at a short notice. Participants are advised to make flexible bookings.
The aims of the Doctoral Workshop are:
- to enable advanced doctoral students in development economics at German-language universities to improve their ongoing research,
- to advise on the preparation of a refereed journal article,
- to practice academic discussion with like-minded students, and
- to establish an informal network of young scholars in the field.
The two-day seminar will be conducted entirely in English.
Preconditions for participation are a registration as a doctoral student at a university in a German-speaking country in the field of development economics, fluent command of English and one draft research paper at the time of application. Selection will be restricted to a maximum of ten doctoral students. Preference will be given to students whose supervisor is a member of the Development Economics Committee and to students whose supervisor is committed to attend the workshop. Participants are responsible to organise and fund their own accommodation and travel arrangements.
Please send extended abstracts (2-3 pages) or full papers and a short CV (as a single pdf file) by 12 August 2022 to Mariami Marsagishvili at marsagishvili@isdc.org. If possible, please also submit a letter of support from the supervisor (included in the single pdf file), stating if the supervisor is able and willing to attend the workshop as well. Decisions will be communicated by late August 2022.
