Project Background
Strengthening social protection in complex humanitarian settings is a top priority for policy-makers and practitioners, aiming to integrate social protection and other poverty alleviation programmes with longer term objectives into humanitarian settings. Specifically, there is a growing demand for better understanding of how to improve the coordination between emergency humanitarian aid and pre-existing safety net programmes to build resilience and to facilitate effective and agile delivery of support during crises.
Project Objectives
This project will generate relevant evidence from two reseach studies. In the first study, we analyze the impacts of conflict and climate shocks in Sudan, using survey data collected by FAO, paying attention to gendered outcomes. In the second study, we analyze the impacts of a work permit scheme for Syrian refugees in Jordan during the COVID-19 pandemic, drawing on detailed UNHCR survey data.
